supplemental services
Some clients benefit from additional support alongside therapy. At Sprout Therapy PDX, we offer Supplemental Services that may be part of a team-based care approach when clinically appropriate and with client consent.
Supplemental Services are designed to enhance therapy, reduce barriers to care, and provide additional support between sessions. Not all clients need or use these services, and participation is always individualized, voluntary, and based on your goals, clinical needs, provider availability, and insurance coverage.
how supplemental services fit into care
For clients receiving Supplemental Services, care may involve collaboration between your therapist and other members of your care team. This coordination helps ensure everyone is working toward shared goals while keeping therapy at the center of care.
Supplemental Services do not replace therapy. Instead, they offer additional layers of support that can help you apply therapeutic work in your day-to-day life, navigate systems, and stay engaged in care.
types of supplemental services we offer
Medication Management
Medication Management services are provided by licensed prescribers (MDs & PMHNPs) and focus on the assessment, prescription, and ongoing monitoring of psychiatric medications when medication is part of a client’s treatment plan.
Medication Management may include:
Psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
Prescribing and adjusting psychiatric medications
Monitoring effectiveness, side effects, and overall response
Collaboration with your therapist and other members of your care team
Education about medication options and informed decision-making
Medication Management can be provided as a standalone service or alongside therapy as part of a coordinated, team-based care approach.
Participation in medication services is always voluntary and based on clinical appropriateness, client preference, provider availability, and insurance coverage.
Peer Support
Peer Support Specialists or Peer Wellness Specialists are state-certified professionals who bring lived experience with mental health challenges and recovery. They provide non-clinical, recovery-oriented peer support focused on connection, empowerment, and practical guidance.
Peer support may include:
Emotional support and validation
Help building confidence and motivation
Support with goal-setting and follow-through
Advocacy and navigation of mental health systems
Reducing isolation and increasing connection
Peer Support is collaborative and strengths-based, grounded in shared experience rather than clinical treatment.
Case Management
Case Management is provided by Qualified Mental Health Associates (QMHAs) who are trained to help clients navigate practical and systemic challenges that can interfere with mental health care.
Case Management may include:
Assistance accessing housing, food, transportation, or benefits
Help completing applications or paperwork
Coordination with schools, healthcare providers, or community resources
Support navigating higher levels of care when needed
Reducing barriers that make it harder to engage in therapy
Case Managers focus on practical problem-solving and coordination to support stability and follow-through.
team-based care
Supplemental Services are offered as part of our team-based care approach, meaning that more than one provider may be involved in supporting your care when helpful.
Team-based care looks different for each client. Not all clients receive team-based care, and no client is required to participate in Supplemental Services in order to receive therapy.
insurance & eligibility
For many Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) clients, Supplemental Services may be covered as part of coordinated care, based on clinical need and insurance authorization. At this time, the only Supplemental Service covered by private insurnace or available to those paying cash is medication management.
Availability of Supplemental Services depends on clinical appropriateness, client consent, provider availability, and insurance coverage.
questions about supplemental services?
If you’re curious whether Supplemental Services might be helpful for you, this can be discussed during your free screening call or at any point during therapy. Your care team will work collaboratively with you to determine what level of support feels right.
