supplemental services
Some clients benefit from additional support alongside therapy. At Sprout Therapy PDX, we offer Supplemental Services as a part of a team-based care approach, when clinically appropriate and with client consent.
Supplemental Services are designed to enhance therapy, reduce barriers to care, and provide additional support between sessions. Not all clients need or use these services, and participation is always individualized, voluntary, and based on your goals, clinical needs, provider availability, and insurance coverage.
our model of care
For clients receiving Supplemental Services, care may involve collaboration between your therapist and other members of your care team. This coordination helps ensure everyone is working toward shared goals while keeping therapy at the center of care.
Supplemental Services do not replace therapy. Instead, they offer additional layers of support that can help you apply therapeutic work in your day-to-day life, navigate systems, and stay engaged in care.
Types of Supplemental Services
Sprout Therapy PDX offers several kinds of Supplemental Services, when additional support is helpful. These services are provided by trained professionals who work closely with your primary therapist as part of your care team.
Medication Management
Medication management services are provided by Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs). PMHNPs are licensed medical providers who assess mental health symptoms, diagnose psychiatric conditions, prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, and monitor medication effectiveness and side effects over time. When part of a team-based care model, PMHNPs coordinate closely with your therapist to ensure medication decisions align with your therapy goals and overall treatment plan.
Case Management
Qualified Mental Health Associates (QMHAs) are mental health professionals certified by MHACBO who provide skills-based support, case management, intake coordination, and assistance navigating systems such as insurance, housing, or community resources. They are not therapists, but often have relevant degrees or extensive experience in the behavioral health system.
Peer Support
Peer Support Specialists (PSS, PWS) are state-certified professionals with lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery. They offer emotional support, advocacy, practical guidance, and help with goal-setting from a lived-experience perspective.
Supplemental Services do not replace therapy — they enhance it. These providers coordinate directly with your clinician and may offer additional support to increase consistency, accountability, and wraparound care.
Insurance and Eligibility
For many Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) clients, Supplemental Services may be covered as part of coordinated care, based on clinical need and insurance authorization. At this time, the only Supplemental Service covered by private insurnace or available to those paying cash is medication management.
Availability of Supplemental Services depends on clinical appropriateness, client consent, provider availability, and insurance coverage.
