mia’s story

Hello and welcome! My name is Mia (she/her) I’m a QMHP.

Thanks for being here! I know the process of looking for a therapist can feel overwhelming-you want to feel like you've made the right choice for who is going to sit alongside you in this vulnerable exploration of self and relationships.

A bit about me and how I show up as a therapist:

I grew up in the mountains of Idaho and have since moved between Colorado, Washington and most recently Oregon. Earlier in my life, I spent extended time traveling through Thailand, India, Nepal, and Greece, which helped inform my understanding of how vast our cultural differences can be, human to human. At our core though, I believe that all of us hold the same desire: to be truly seen and accepted-both from ourselves and from the world around us. My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that people are inherently wired for connection, growth, and meaning-making, and that healing occurs within safe, authentic relationships.

I view each client as the expert of their own felt experience and approach therapy as a collaborative process. I strive to create a space that is warm, non-judgmental, and grounded in empathy, where clients feel supported in exploring the depths of their inner emotional world as well as their relational experiences. As a lifelong dancer and someone living with a chronic illness, I also value the mind-body connection and gently incorporate somatic awareness to support emotional understanding and regulation.

When I’m not at Sprout I love to move my body with yoga or dance, play music/sing, laugh and chat with my loved ones, catch live music shows, eat delicious food, get all the sun I can get and make up silly songs with my partner about our dog Nala.

Now for the professional stuff:

I am a QMHP intern clinician working under Shannon Macminn, LMFT, and Emma Crosby, LCSW. I earned my BA in Psychology from University of Washington and I am currently in the process of earning my MA in Marriage, Couples and Family Therapy at Lewis and Clark College with a specialty track in sexuality. My work is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and influences from somatic and mindfulness modalities. I work with individuals, couples, and families, and I’m especially passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ clients,  relationship exploration (including ethical non-monogamy), navigating chronic illness and health/ability transitions, sex/intimacy/kink, sex work, general existential and death anxiety.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me. I would be honored to support you in your process of exploration and growth towards living your most authentic and relationally connected life.

QMHPs are intern clinicians in the final stage of their master’s program and have completed all of their coursework. Our QMHPs receive frequent supervision, consultation, and guidance from their Clinical Supervisor in treatment planning and the therapeutic process. This means you benefit from two clinicians thinking about your care - bringing more perspectives, more support, and a truly collaborative approach to helping you meet your goals.
