ashley’s story
Hi there! I’m Ashley - I’m a QMHP.
Hello and Welcome! My name is Ashley (she/her).
I believe therapy should feel collaborative and grounded in safety. That means we get to define together what “safe” actually looks like for you. I see you as the expert of your own life with my role being to walk alongside you bringing curiosity, compassion, and sometimes a little humor while we make sense of things together. Healing isn’t linear, and sometimes humor and lightness can exist right alongside the hard stuff.
I also recognize that who I am matters in this work (because let’s be real - it can feel a little intimidating to open up to someone you just met!). My lived experiences shape how I show up, and I try to be as real, transparent, and open to feedback in our work together.
I’m originally from Colorado and grew up loving the outdoors so when I moved out to Oregon with my partner I couldn't wait to explore all of the scenery Oregon had to offer. Outside of work, I love dogs, video games, hiking and a good book. I identify as a biracial Filipino-American and for much of my life I have had ties to military life. My experiences have really shaped how I understand identity, relationships, and healing. Moving through different environments has given me a personal understanding of how culture, belonging, and expectations can impact how we see ourselves and connect with others.
My approach centers around understanding the stories we’ve been carrying, while also having the space to experience and embody new ways of being. That process happens together through conversation, reflection, and real emotional experiences in the room. In our work together, we might explore how your past experiences and larger societal messages have shaped your sense of self, while also paying attention to what feels true and authentic for you right now. At the end of the day, I want therapy to feel like a space where you can show up as your full self and know you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
Now for the professional stuff:
I am a QMHP intern clinician working under Shannon Macminn, LMFT, and Emma Crosby, LCSW. I earned my BA in Psychology from Lawrence University and I am currently in the process of earning my MA in Marriage and Family Counseling from Lewis and Clark. My work is first and foremost client centered and is informed by Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Experiential approaches. I approach therapy from a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and relational lens. I’m especially passionate about working with BIPOC and LGBTQAI+ individuals, couples, teens and families surrounding grief, anxiety, depression, life transitions, military and veteran issues, sex work, and trauma. Before embarking on this journey, I worked as a medical assistant and also have numerous years of experience working in childhood care. I have also enjoyed being involved in research surrounding moral injury, social anxiety, and significant barriers to accessing healthcare that exist among women with minoritized sexual identities.
QMHPs are intern clinicians in the final stage of their master’s program and have completed all of their coursework. Our QMHPs receive frequent supervision, consultation, and guidance from their Clinical Supervisor in treatment planning and the therapeutic process. This means you benefit from two clinicians thinking about your care - bringing more perspectives, more support, and a truly collaborative approach to helping you meet your goals.
