sydney’s story
Hi! I’m Sydney (she/her/they/them)!
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here! Whether you’re looking for your first therapist or returning to mental health care, you deserve a therapeutic space that empowers you to take the next steps in your journey. I believe that healing happens in community with others, which is why finding the right therapist for you is so important. I prioritize collaboration and empathy to co-create a brave space for clients to learn about themselves and build the life they desire. Working with me might include increasing awareness of ongoing patterns, finding new ways of being, and going inward to explore parts of the self. I enjoy using my authenticity, humor, and warmth to encourage clients to play with new possibilities and feel more comfortable discussing difficult topics.
The systems we are all a part of can be oppressive and burdensome to navigate alone. Holding space for all types of experiences is essential to the work I do. By joining my clients in a space of curiosity, I aim to work with you to navigate unsupportive structures and empower you to take on life’s challenges.
I enjoy working with individuals, teens, and families with topics such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, identity exploration, relationship struggles, and self-esteem. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I also have a passion for working with queer individuals, relationships, and families.
I was born and raised in California, but have recently settled in Portland with my partner and our cat, Penny. When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, eating good food, crafting, reading, and playing bass.
Now for the professional stuff…
I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a Bachelor of Arts in Intensive Psychology. I then earned my Master of Arts in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy from Lewis and Clark College.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in Collaborative Therapy. I take a humanistic, community-oriented approach and draw from Experiential Therapy, Existential Humanism, Narrative Therapy, and parts work. At its core, my work is strengths-based and trauma-informed.
I am supervised by Molly Dressler, LCSW.
