rose’s story
Welcome! I’m Rose (she/her). I am a Neurodivergent Therapist who has spent years healing from my own complex and relational trauma. I have lived experiences with poverty, immigration issues, familial estrangement, and abuse. After growing up in a dysfunctional home, I started therapy at the age of 15 which drastically changed the course of my life. I have been dedicated to mental health advocacy ever since. Over the past decade I have worked in mental health settings in various states and countries. Before moving to Portland in 2020, I lived on the East Coast (deep south, New England, D.C.) as well as in the Philippines and Australia. Culturally, I identify as Slavic-American.
My communication style is direct, open, and humorous when appropriate. (Yes, we will laugh together in session). I place high value on authenticity and accountability from my clients and myself. I work best with adult individuals and couples who are bold in their readiness for change, and who appreciate a no-nonsense/assertive approach from their therapist.
The professional stuff:
Healing attachment wounding and building capacity for healthy relationships is at the heart of my work. I know firsthand how challenging this healing can be AND I believe that it is 100% possible. My work often includes skills building for distress tolerance, emotional regulation, communication, and relational behavior. I am also a good fit for clients who may have previously learned these skills and are ready to deepen their relationship with themselves and others. My clients tend to have experienced C-PTSD, BPD, Anxiety, Neurodiversity, turbulent relationships, non-death related grief, and challenges with life transitions. Some are also hoping to expand their spiritual practice or connection to Nature. I align with Trauma Informed Care, Compassion Focused Therapy, Somatic Psychotherapy, DBT, Reality Integration Theory, and Attachment Theory. I am holistic in my approach to counseling meaning that treatment will always take the whole person into account, not just the diagnosis. I believe that therapy is a dynamic space where we can be creative and have some fun as well. For those who are interested I love to incorporate the following into our work: creative expression interventions (writing, music, art, dance), bodywork, spiritual practices such as tarot reading or prayer, and/or time spent in Nature or with pets.
I received a B.A. in English Literature and Psychology from The George Washington University in D.C. in 2017 and a M.A. in Professional Mental Health Counseling with a Certificate in Ecopsychology from Lewis & Clark in 2023.
