Hi there, I’m Laura! 

Hi! I’m Laura. As a social-justice oriented and trauma-informed therapist, I am passionate about bridging the gap between underserved communities and access to therapy. Much of my education and training has focused on multicultural counseling competencies with diverse populations.  I believe in pulling both from education and lived-in experiences to create a unique style of therapy where we can both work together.

I strongly believe and uphold that the connection between counselor and client is an essential part of the therapeutic process. That is why my number one priority is creating a trusting, safe space for you to process your thoughts and feelings. You do not have to do this alone. I am honored to be here to walk by your side during your journey.

I use a person-centered approach with the helpings of cognitive behavior and dialectic behavior therapies to light the way forward. I will work with you to reframe negative thoughts and learn how to utilize new tools to pave the way to a fulfilling and happy life. With your unique needs in mind, I will develop a treatment plan that is tailored to you and support you throughout the process, so that you are empowered to make lasting change.

I believe in effective self-disclosure, especially if it brings forth relatability and comfort.  I am happy to share I identify as a queer Latina and have been working hard to maintain my privilege of being bilingual in English and Spanish.  ¡No puedo esperar para conocerte!

I hold a bachelor's in Psychology from St. Edward's University in Austin, TX and a master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I completed my internships at TCS' Virtual Clinical Training Center, the Portland DBT Institute, and Spectrum Counseling. Major coursework included couple & family counseling, human growth and development, trauma-informed counseling practices, counseling theories, human sexuality, and diagnosis of mental health. 

I am a registered LPC Associate in the state of Oregon. I am supervised by Ellen Landis, MA, LMFT.
