katie’s story

Hi! I'm Katie Evans (she/her). I believe that at the heart of counseling are three foundational elements: being genuine, staying curious, and showing deep compassion. These qualities guide every interaction I have as a therapist and allow me to build a space that feels safe, nonjudgmental, and truly supportive. My intention is to walk alongside you as we explore your inner world together—with openness, care, and yes, a bit of humor. It’s a profound privilege to be a part of your journey as you move toward healing, growth, and a deeper connection with your own strength and life story.

In our work together, we’ll gently uncover what matters most to you—your core values—and explore how those values can help you navigate challenges and make choices that feel aligned with who you are. We’ll also focus on nurturing self-acceptance, cultivating resilience, and fostering more meaningful relationships in your life.

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, but quickly realized that the PNW is home to me.  When I’m not counseling you can find me at my favorite coffee shop, baking at home, or exploring the great outdoors.

Now for the professional stuff:

I hold a Master’s degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling from  Lewis and Clark College.  I concentrated on the spirit, body, and mind connection, particularly focusing on sexuality, trauma, and anxiety.  I received my undergraduate degree in English from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington.  My clinical work experience has included working with college students at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington and working at a small group counseling practice in Vancouver, Washington, seeing mostly folks with anxiety and depression. In addition to my clinical background, I have many years experience working with youth with type 1 diabetes (as a fellow type 1 diabetic myself).

My therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from a variety of evidence-based frameworks, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Relational Cultural Therapy (RCT). These modalities help us work collaboratively to build emotional flexibility, develop self-compassion, and understand the impact of connection and disconnection in your life.

Additionally, I approach therapy through a multicultural and social justice lens. This means that I consider the whole of your identity—your cultural background, personal history, and lived experiences—as central to our work together. I believe that healing happens not only within ourselves but also in how we engage with the world around us. Our conversations will hold space for the complexities of your identity and honor the strengths you carry.

Wherever you are on your path, I’m here to support you with empathy, honesty, and respect. I look forward to being part of your journey.
