mia’s story
Hi, I’m Katie (she/her) and I’m happy you’re here! MA,MFTA
I believe that healing happens in community and that our relationships have the capacity to transform our lives. My approach to therapy is deeply relational and I seek to build authentic connections rooted in warmth, humor, and compassion. I believe each individual is the expert in their life, but at difficult times we can all benefit from a little extra support and guidance. I believe it’s important to recognize the many challenges we face as a result of living within systems that disconnect us from ourselves and each other. I strive to create a safe, healing space where each individual is seen, known, and valued for their unique perspective and lived experience.
I bring my background in yoga, meditation, and experience as a Licensed Massage Therapist to my work helping clients integrate their physical and emotional bodies to allow more space for joy in their lives. My goal is to help people thrive in their lives, experiencing a deep sense of self-compassion and freedom of expression. I believe, with the right tools and some guidance, we can all achieve happier, healthier lives and relationships.
I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, families, and relationships of all configurations on topics such as anxiety, depression, trauma / PTSD, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship challenges, parenting, and those struggling with chronic illness and pain.
Now for the professional stuff:
I’m a registered marriage and family therapist associate with a Master’s Degree from Lewis and Clark College and a Bachelors in Anthropology from Ohio University.
I approach therapy from a humanistic, client centered, and somatic lens incorporating Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Polyvagal Theory. I am dedicated to making my practice a safe space for everyone no matter their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or neurotype. My work is client-centered, strengths-based, and compassion focused.
I am supervised by McKenna Teague, LCSW.
