emma’s story

Hi! I’m Emma (she/her). My name is Emma Crosby. I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan and moved out to Oregon almost 5 years ago. I have always wanted to live near mountains and I am thankful to live in a place where they are abundant. I love being outside and getting into all of the adventures the Pacific Northwest has to offer including but not limited to hiking, trail running, swimming, camping, backpacking, paddle boarding, and gardening. I also love spending time with my cat.

Now for the professional stuff:

Professionally, I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Oregon. I am passionate about and committed to providing quality mental health services to youth, adolescents, and families. I specialize in working with young people aged 7 to 22 years old who are navigating difficulties related to trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. I have experience providing mental health services in the community mental health setting, in schools, as well as have worked with and provided in-home reunification services for families in the foster care system. I also have experience providing mental health treatment for victims of child sexual abuse through the Child Sexual Abuse Treatment Program with Children’s Center. 

I use a variety of approaches in my practice, drawing from person-centered techniques, motivational interviewing, trauma- focused cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, strengths- based, and mindfulness techniques.  I deeply value supporting clients in connecting to their intrinsic strengths, and highlighting and building upon these strengths to support in overcoming difficulties they may be experiencing. I believe that individuals are experts of their own lives and view my role as providing gentle, compassionate, guidance in supporting individuals and young people in being empowered to reach their goals while teaching various skills and tools to support on this journey.

I recognize the vulnerability and courage it takes to seek out therapy in the first place and would not take this role lightly.  I would be honored to meet with you and to see whether we could be a good fit!
